The ITHACA project is committed to ensuring the highest ethical standards in all its activities, particularly in the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for healthcare. To achieve this goal, we have established an Ethics Advisory Board (EAB) that provides independent, expert advice on ethical issues related to the project.
The EAB is composed of external members who have appropriate expertise regarding human participation, vulnerable individuals, personal data protection, and risks for fundamental rights in AI. These experts are not affiliated with any of the consortium partners or institutions and are from different countries, to ensure diversity and representativeness.
The EAB’s work is guided by the project’s ethical principles, which include respect for human dignity, privacy, autonomy, non-discrimination, and transparency. These principles are reflected in the project’s data management plan, informed consent procedures, and privacy and security protocols.
The EAB meets regularly to discuss ethical issues and provides advice and recommendations to the project’s management team. Their expertise and insights are essential for ensuring that the ITHACA project operates with the highest ethical standards and respects the rights and interests of all stakeholders.
The ITHACA project is grateful to the members of the EAB for their valuable contributions and commitment to ethical excellence.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the project’s ethical standards, please feel free to contact us.
